James J. Perez, DO, FACOOG (Distinguished)

Dr. James Perez is board certified in obstetrics and gynecology. He is a graduate of Rutgers University and received his Osteopathic degree from the University Of Health Sciences College Of Osteopathic Medicine in Kansas City. He completed his internship and residency at Doctors Hospital here in Columbus and is the Program Director for the OB/GYN Residency program at Doctors Hospital OhioHealth, Columbus, Ohio.

Dr. Perez is most known for his extensive knowledge and expertise in Operative Laparoscopic surgery, including pioneering work in Laparoscopic Presacral Neurectomy and Laparoscopic Hysterectomy. In addition to his contributions to multiple textbooks, including Operative Laparoscopy – The Masters’ Techniques in Gynecologic Surgery and Principles of Laparoscopic Surgery: Basic and Advanced Techniques, he is admired for his lectures, both nationally and internationally, on these subjects.
At Doctors Hospital he has 25 years of leadership experience serving on numerous committees over the years, including the Doctors Hospital OhioHealth Credentials Committee and the Clinical Quality Committee where he currently serves. As an editor, professor, lecturer, chairperson and program director, Dr. Perez becomes more committed to learning with each opportunity. As his passion for his work grows, so does his dedication to the OhioHealth Leadership Academy – a physician leadership education program he has been involved in for many years.
